The Bonfim Parish Council is installed in a building dating from the early nineteenth century that was owned by Francisco Diogo de Sousa Cyrne de Madureira Alcoforado. Integrated in the famous Quinta do Reimão that was owned by the same family since at least the sixteenth century, this building was designed as a residential house and was constructed on stakes due to the muddy soil that existed in that place. When the construction was finished, there were only the ground floor and the first floor. The house and the rest of the big property was sold by the end of the late nineteenth century for the construction of houses and streets, such as «rua do Duque de Palmela», «rua do Duque de Saldanha», «rua do Duque da Terceira», «rua do Conde Ferreira», «rua do Barão de S. Cosme», «rua de Joaquim António de Aguiar» and «rua de Ferreira Cardoso». In 1890, this building was finally bought by the Bonfim Parish Council that established its headquarters in it in 1955 (Source: Jorge Ricardo Pinto (2011), Bonfim - Território de Memórias e Destinos).
