A - Porto Oriental Gallery

The gallery is settled in an old house from 1904, which was recovered and enlarged to receive expositions and different artistic events. The gallery shows drawings, painting, sculpture and photography, of Portuguese and foreign artists, of various ages. Moreover, the gallery supports and encourage new artists and their creations. B - Bonfim Church

The construction of the actual Bonfim Church began on 7th of September of 1874. The project drawn by José Luís Nogueira Júnior and António Sardinha was implemented in 1894, when the main façade of the church and its south tower were completed. The north tower was completed in 1902 by João Gonçalves de Oliveira Torres. Bonfim Church has a neoclassical style and is one of the most beautiful and majestic churches of the city of Porto. C - António Carneiro House and Workshop

In 1920, the painter and poet António Carneiro built a house to establish the family atelier and the residence of his musician son Cláudio Carneiro. The building was designed by Manuel Duarte Moreira de Sá e Melo and Álvaro Pinto de Miranda. Here you can appreciate some pieces of art and objects that are in the exhibitions rooms, such as painting materials, documents, books, photography, and many paintings of António Carneiro and family. The Bonfim Parish Council is installed in a building dating from the early nineteenth century that was owned by Francisco Diogo de Sousa Cyrne de Madureira Alcoforado. In 1890, this building was bought by the Bonfim Parish Council that established its headquarters in it in 1955. (Learn more...)

The Municipal Library of Porto is located in the former Convent of Saint Anthony of the City, a building dating from the eighteenth century. This convent was extinct after the «Cerco do Porto» (Siege of Porto) along with other religious institutions. In 1833, the Municipal Library of Porto was founded by decree of D. Pedro IV, and initially it was located in Cordoaria. The Library was installed in this building only in 1842, after some adjustments. The Faculty of Fine Arts is installed in an old palatial house from the nineteenth century whose construction was requested by its owner António Ribeiro Fernandes Forbes, a Portuguese man that was emigrated in Brazil. The building was only concluded after his death by his wife Maria do Carmo Rodrigues Forbes. A few years later, the owner of this building was José Teixeira da Silva Braga who designed the lush garden that can be found inside the property with the help of the Belgian landscaper Florent Claes, who introduced several rare and exotic flora species. The building where Porto Military Museum is installed is an majestic palatial house, with classical architectonic elements and a rectangular plan. In this museum you will be able to visit many rooms of expositions that are dedicated to miniatures, uniforms, small arms and heavy artillery pieces.
