A - Arca de Mijavelhas

The «Arca de Mijavelhas» or «Poço de Mijavelhas» is a water reservoir built in the 16th century situated at that time in «Campo de Mijavelhas» which is currently known as «Campo 24 de Agosto». This water reservoir provided water to the city of Porto by capturing water sources and conducting them to fountains all over the city. Over time, this important reservoir was forgotten due to the improvements and innovations in the water supply to the homes of people from Porto. (Learn more...)
B - Bonfim Church

The construction of the actual Bonfim Church began on the 7th of September of 1874. The project drawn by José Luís Nogueira Júnior and António Sardinha was implemented in 1894, when the main façade of the church and its south tower were completed. The north tower was completed in 1902 by João Gonçalves de Oliveira Torres. Bonfim Church has a neoclassical style and is one of the most majestic churches of the city of Porto. (Learn more...)
C - António Carneiro House and Workshop

In 1920, the painter and poet António Carneiro built a house to establish the family atelier and the residence of his musician son Cláudio Carneiro. The building was designed by Manuel Duarte Moreira de Sá e Melo and Álvaro Pinto de Miranda. Here you can appreciate the pieces of art and the objects that can be found in the exhibitions rooms, such as painting materials, documents, books, photography, and many paintings of António Carneiro and family. D - Nova Sintra Park

Nova Sintra Park is located in a property that belonged to the Reid family, of British origin. Its garden retains many original features: wide botanical diversity, dense trees, lush forests, many alleys and byways. E - Municipal Library of Porto

The Municipal Library of Porto is located in the former Convent of Saint Anthony of the City, a building dating from the 18th century. This convent was extinct after the «Cerco do Porto» (Siege of Porto) along with other religious institutions. In 1833, the Municipal Library of Porto was founded by decree of D. Pedro IV, and initially it was located in Cordoaria. The Library was installed in this building only in 1842, after some adjustments. F - Fontainhas Viewpoint

The area of Fontainhas is located in the southern end of Bonfim and is a must-visit area for those who want to contemplate the landscape of Douro, Vila Nova de Gaia and the city of Porto itself. In this viewpoint you can enjoy relaxing moments full of breath-taking sceneries. You can see the Douro River and its activities; the margin of Vila Nova de Gaia and Serra do Pilar Monastery; and you can also see four bridges of Porto: Luís I, Infante, Maria Pia and St. John Bridge.
